Conflict prevention & resolution
The UK Government is committed to preventing and resolving conflict around the world.
The UK Foreign and Commonwealth Office (FCO), Ministry of Defence (MOD) and Department for International Development (DFID) staff work globally to resolve conflict and tackle their causes by promoting and developing human rights, democracy and good governance.
For example, British troops are working together with the US military and other coalition forces to fight insurgencies and to rebuild war-torn regions in Afghanistan and Iraq. In addition, British troops are deployed in peacekeeping and humanitarian operations in several other nations, including Sudan, Sierra Leone, and Liberia.
UK forces work alongside US colleagues on operations around the world, as a force for good to promote human rights, good governance and democracy, including the delivery of humanitarian relief to countries devastated by natural disasters.
