You need to pay the correct fee in US Dollars when applying for your passport. 

Methods of payment

PERSONAL CHEQUES OR CERTIFIED PERSONAL CHEQUES ARE NOT ACCEPTED

Payments can be made by:

• credit card (Mastercard/Visa) by completing the authorisation form.
• money order, cashier or certified bankers cheque made payable to:
  BRITISH EMBASSY GOVERNMENT ACCOUNT

Please note:  If your credit card payment is declined or money order is incorrect we will try to contact you (one time only),  in order to obtain an alternative method of payment.  If we are unable to obtain a response the application will be rejected and returned to you via USPS.

• Emergency Passport - $117 (* Can $125)
  
• Temporary passport - $151  (only available at a limited number of offices, please contact your local office for information: in the USA, in Canada,  in any other country)
  
  We only issue emergency and temporary passports if other types of passport cannot be printed in time.  There is a call out fee for issuing a temporary or emergency passport outside of office hours. You will need to add this fee to the cost of the passport.
• Call out fee - $218
  

The rate is for every hour or part of an hour for each member of our staff. The maximum charge is  $1524 in any 24 hour period.

 * The fee for an Emergency Passport (EP) must be paid in the currency of the country the EP is issued in.

Postage and Insurance

• Canada and the USA  - $12 postage will be charged for up to 3 applications. $24 will be charged for 4 or more.
• Caribbean - $21 postage will be charged for up to 3 applications. $42 will be charged for 4 or more.
• Americas - $24 postage will be charged for up to 3 applications. $28 will be charged for 4 or more.
  

Customers in Colombia will be charged $27 for up to 3 applications and $54 for 4 or more as DHL will be used rather than UPS.

THE PASSPORT APPLICATION MUST BE COMPLETED CORRECTLY, OTHERWISE IT MAY BE RETURNED TO THE APPLICANT WITH INSTRUCTIONS. FROM APRIL 1 2008, NO REFUNDS WILL BE ISSUED FOR UNSUCCESSFUL OR FRAUDULENT PASSPORT APPLICATIONS.

PASSPORTS ARE RETURNED VIA UNITED PARCEL SERVICE (UPS) ONLY, ONCE READY FOR ISSUANCE.  PLEASE PROVIDE US WITH A STREET ADDRESS WHERE AN ADULT MAY SIGN FOR THE PACKAGE UPON RECEIPT.  (P.O. BOXES ARE NOT ACCEPTABLE).

The UPS Postage fee includes insurance of up to $100.  If you wish to insure the package to cover the cost of replacing the passport/supporting documentation you may choose to do so for an additional fee of $1.80 for up to $300 and $0.60 per $100 after that.

The UK Passport Service for the Americas and Caribbean cannot be held responsible for loss or damage once a package containing passports and/or documents has been dispatched from this Office.
