The Ambassador's Residence
The residence of the British Embassy in Washington, DC, is an architectural jewel. Built in the late 1920s, it is Sir Edwin Lutyens' only house in America. The 10,000-plus visitors who come through every year admire the wonderful building and its fine display of art from the Government Art Collection.
Lutyens' building - traditional in form, modern in construction - lends itself admirably to the display of works of art which span more than 200 years, from the 18th to the late 20th centuries.
