The British community in New York is being drawn together in creating a British Memorial Garden at Hanover Square, New York. The Garden will be a gift from the British and Anglo-Americans to the people of New York. It is intended to serve both as a symbol of the unity between the United States and the United Kingdom as well as a living memorial to the British servicemen who have died alongside their American comrades struggling against tyranny and oppression and to the British nationals who lost their lives in the World Trade Centre attacks. The Garden, which was officially launched on 29 April 2003 in the presence of HRH The Princess Royal and is designed by the noted UK landscape architects Julian and Isabel Bannerman, reflects Britain's unique gardening heritage. The British Memorial Garden New York Trust is a 501(c)(3) not-for-profit organization.

The Clan Currie Society is an international, non-profit educational organization promoting Scottish heritage and culture. The Society was formed in Glasgow, Scotland in 1959 to further the knowledge and appreciation of the MacMhuirich (pronounced MacVurich) bardic dynasty (1213 - 1726). Today, the organization is a respected producer of outstanding programs, events, exhibitions and documentary films which honor Scotland's rich culture and history. The Society's signature events in New York City include Tartan Day on Ellis Island and the Pipes of Christmas concert.
