British School of Houston

The British School of Houston provides British primary and secondary school education for children of all nationalities. The school opened in September 2000 and is part of the British Schools of America, a division of The WCLS Group, a British company which also operates Fieldwork Education and Overseas Schools, Ltd. The British Schools of America also operates sister schools in Chicago, Boston, Charlotte, and Washington D.C.

The British School of Houston accepts children from 3 to 18 years old (Nursery to Year 13). We will enroll pupils in our first Year 13 class in September 2006 and have our first graduating class in the spring of 2007.

Nursery and Reception (Foundation Stage) children follow the Foundation Curriculum, based on the UK Early Learning Goals.

All children at the British School of Houston follow the National Curriculum for England up through Year 11 followed by the International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme in Years 12 and 13. This means they follow nationally agreed programmes of study in English, Mathematics, Science, Design & Technology (DT), Information & Communication Technology (ICT), History, Geography, Modern Foreign Languages, Art & Design, Music, Physical Education (PE) and Personal, Social & Health Education (PSHE). For more details go to Our Curriculum.

It is school policy to assess all children following entry to the school and to monitor their progress with a series of standardised assessment tests.
