Joseph Pickerill, Vice Consul Political, Press and Public Affairs

Joseph Pickerill has served as Political, Press and Public Affairs Officer since April 6th, 2006.

In that capacity he works to promote a contemporary and dynamic image of the UK in New England, in which he keeps regional opinion-formers updated on UK foreign and domestic policy developments. Northern Ireland also figures in his brief, given the particular interest in the region in political and social developments there.

His political and public affairs work includes support for shared US-UK ‘best practice’ in areas of public policy. He is responsible for the Consulate's relations with the region’s political and academic communities, as well as contact with its mainstream, science, and business press. His office is also responsible for cultural and educational issues and public information, including the Consulate website.

From 2003 to 2006 he held posts in the Cabinet Office in London where he worked within their in -house consultancy, reporting to the Prime Minister, and with TRANSEC (Transport Security) in the UK.
