The Consular Section can legalise UK and Overseas Territory issued documents. Legalisation simply means confirming that a signature, seal or stamp appearing on a document is genuine. The signatures or seals of British Public officials (such as solicitors, notaries public, registrars) on certain documents from the United Kingdom/Overseas Territory have to be confirmed before those documents can be accepted by our office.

For full legalisation information you may visit www.fco.gov.uk/legalisation. We aim to deal with your documents quickly, politely and effectively. If we cannot process your documents we will give you a full explanation. If you have any further questions you may contact the Consular Section in person or in writing or fax your enquiry to 617 621 0220.

We also accept applications for oaths/affirmation of allegiance, notices of marriage and matters relating to the welfare of British Citizens within our consular district. Our consular district consists of Massachusetts, New Hampshire, Vermont, Maine, Rhode Island and Connecticut, with the exception of Fairfield County (covered by New York).

We accept applications between 9.00am and 12.00pm (EST).
