Natalie Pawelski's bio
Natalie Pawelski is Vice Consul for Press, Political, and Public Affairs at the British Consulate-General in Atlanta. She joined the consulate in July, 2005.
Her staff's responsibilities include media relations, public diplomacy on themes ranging from climate change to counter-terrorism, best-practice exchanges on topics such as education and criminal justice, visits by British government officials, and the Marshall Scholarship program.
Natalie was CNN’s Environment Correspondent from 1997-2003. While reporting regularly from around the country on environmental issues, she also backstopped the science and technology desk, and picked up general assignment and homeland security stories, as well. Her packages and live shots appeared on CNN, CNN International, Headline News and CNN affiliates across the country; her work also appeared on CNN.com and was heard nationwide on CNNRadio.
Natalie hosted the award-winning weekly magazine Earth Matters, and guest-hosted Science and Technology Week and Next@CNN. Her production team’s accolades include National Headliner, CableAce, New York Festival, Clarion, Christopher, and Genesis awards.
Natalie was a 2002-2003 Nieman Fellow at Harvard University. She holds a master’s in journalism from Columbia University, and graduated cum laude from Georgetown University’s School of Foreign Service. Her undergraduate studies included a year’s work at the London School of Economics. She has taught journalism and media ethics at Oglethorpe University in Atlanta.
Natalie has served as an elected board member for the Society of Environmental Journalists, and served on the advisory boards of the Institutes for Journalism and Natural Resources, and the Radio-Television News Directors Foundation’s Environmental Journalism Center. Her public speaking engagements have ranged from a UN conference at The Hague, to Harvard Business School, to a spa in Mexico.
She lives with her husband, John Rogers, and their basset hound, Bud, in Atlanta.
