Miami Green Building Mission welcomes UK companies to South Florida (June 16, 2009)

During the week of the 8th June, the UK Trade and Investment Team in Miami hosted a Green Building Mission in Atlanta and Miami. The four UK companies who participated were AECOM, BRE, The Georgeson Group and The Technology Partnership (TTP).

The delegates arrived in Atlanta on Sunday 7 June. The programme started early on Monday at the Metro Atlanta Chamber of Commerce, where each delegate held about 10 meetings. Companies that attended the meetings include Georgia Power, Coca-Cola, the CDC, and the Atlanta Development Authority, amongst others. A networking breakfast was also held on Tuesday with more than 40 attendees.

The Miami programme included a full day of meetings with companies such as MGM International, Greenberg Traurig, Office Depot and Publix Supermarkets; a networking lunch with government representatives from Palm Beach County, the City of Miami, the City of Miramar, Broward County and the state's economic development body, Enterprise Florida; a private dinner, sponsored by FedEx held on Wednesday night with 25 attendees.

Finally, the companies had the opportunity to speak at the opening session of MiaGreen ( www.miagreen.com ) a small industry-relevant event held at the Miami Beach Convention Centre. The panel gave them a platform to showcase their expertise, plus they had the opportunity to display literature at the UKTI stand.
