Consul-General and Deputy Consul-General to attend Day of Remembrance events in Arizona (November 05, 2009)
On Sunday, 8 November, the British Consul-General Dame Barbara Hay and British Deputy Consul-General David Wild will participate in remembrance events in Mesa, Arizona for Royal Air Force (RAF) veterans from WWII. They will pay their respects to the 23 RAF Cadets who gave their lives during training at #4 British Flying Training School at Falcon Field.
Many hundreds of RAF pilots completed their basic training at Falcon Field in Mesa from 1941-45. This will be the last time the RAF veterans with the RAF Falcon Field Association will travel from the UK to attend the service. We are delighted that the Arizona Wing of the Commemorative Air Force (CAF) has agreed to take responsibility for the ceremony next year.
This event is open to the public and starts at 10:45 a.m. at the Memorial Site in the Mesa Cemetery (1212 N Center St., Mesa, Arizona).
