The UK Borders Agency discusses the new Points Based System with stakeholders (October 23, 2009)
The UK Borders Agency (UKBA) and Laura Devine Associates held a seminar on 22nd October at the British Consulate in New York to discuss the Points Based System with key stakeholders such as businesses and law firms. Ian Robinson, Assistant Director of UKBA, told assembled guests that the new Points Based System is working well and allows the UK to manage migration more efficiently than in the past. He also said UKBA has been responsive to the suggestions and needs of its stakeholders. Recent developments have included revised policy on graduate recruitment and a commitment to develop a route to allow businesses to more easily hire interns.
Separately, Ian Robinson and members of the UKBA New York Visa Section attended a second round table meeting at the offices of Fragomen, Del Rey, Bernsen and Loewy. This was an opportunity to brief representatives from major New York companies about opportunities to work in the United Kingdom and to seek their views on how the Points Based System can continue to meet the needs of business.
More information about the Points Based System can be found on the UKBA website.
