12 teens to represent youth perspective on climate change at Governors’ Global Climate Summit (September 29, 2009)
Twelve students from the California Climate Champions program have been selected to attend the second Governors’ Global Climate Summit, hosted by Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger, where the students will voice the next generation’s concerns about climate change to national leaders and report live to their peers online.
These young people are available for interviews during the Governors’ Summit, and will offer an articulate and fresh perspective on the progress they see around the world on climate change, and what the challenge of global warming means to them and to their generation.
The teens will be interviewing conference delegates and sharing their perspectives on their blog. Media are also invited to observe discussions between the champions and adult conference delegates, which can be arranged with advance notice.
The California Climate Champions program identifies youth from across the state who are leaders in communicating about climate change and engaging their communities in action, and is sponsored by the British Council and the California Air Resources Board (ARB).
