Torture is 'unacceptable and abhorrent' (August 04, 2009)
Following the publication of the Joint Committee on Human Rights (JCHR) report into allegations of UK complicity in torture, Foreign Office Minister Ivan Lewis spoke on the BBC's Today Programme.
Ivan Lewis stressed that 'we neither engage in, collude with or condone torture'.
He said:
"We always make it clear that torture is unacceptable and abhorrent.
What is true, however, in a modern world you cannot counter terrorism by acting in isolation; we have to work on a global basis with many other countries."
